Spirituality as the Root of Cannabis Care
Continued Education Session | CNNC 2022
SESSION TOPIC:
High Science: Spirituality as the Root of Cannabis Care
Does the Human Caring Theory play a part in Cannabis Nursing?
Spirituality is the Root of Cannabis Care and the correlation to the call to action via the National Nursing Guidelines for Medical Cannabis and Jean Watson’s Theory on Human Caring. The learner will be inspired by the understanding that the essence of nursing is human caring and what that means to care for the entire human experience without judgment when working with all patients and providers. Including spiritual principles is part of the art and science of holistic nursing and correlates directly to the 6th NCSBN which states “The nurse shall approach the patient without judgment regarding the patient’s choice of treatment or preferences in managing pain and other distressing symptoms”
The learning objectives include: understanding the holistic role of the nurse when providing cannabis care and how the cannabis nurse brings hope and inspiration for growth and healing to the patients we care for using spiritual principles as outlined in Jean Watson's Caritas Processes.
